How to add watermark to PDF

It is true that most of us using PDF for every day works including sharing ideas and reporting. The more we use it around the Internet, the more we realize that it is quite necessary for being branded to represent personal chrisma.

Install Foxit Reader on your PC

Foxit Reader is an excellent PDF reader. It provides much more features and custom options than Adobe Reader. We can use it to add watermark to PDF easily.

PS: The widely used Adobe Reader supports adding watermark too. But it has a bug that the watermark images have color cast. So we choose the better Foxit Reader.

Add watermark to PDF

Right click a PDF file and choose “open with” – “Foxit Reader”.


Click “PDF Sign” button at the top menu. Choose “Create Signature” to make a new watermark. You have 3 methods to create new watermark. Here we take “Import Image” for example.



Click “Browse” to select a picture from your PC. Click “Save” and there will be a gray box on the page. It will follow the mouse movements. Click any area on the current page and you will preview the watermark. You can click the watermark and move it to any position. Drag the red box to zoom the watermark.




Right click the watermark to set it on multiple pages. You can choose to add the watermark to all pages or assigned pages.


Choose “Apply Signature” then all the watermarks will be added.

Please kindly be awared that this method supports adding text only. Image is not supported, unfortunately. It is a little bit more harsh with this free program is we cannot set the watermark to the position exactly as we want. We cannot preview the watermark either. So, in consideration of these defects, I suggest you use Foxit Reader to add watermark to PDF.
